The University of North Florida Ospreys came back to win their fifth-straight Atlantic Sun Conference victory by defeating the Lipscomb University Bisons 75-66 at 5:00 p.m. on Jan. 24.

On the road at the Allen Arena in Nashville, Tn. the Ospreys (13-9) overcame a 29-19 halftime deficit against the Bisons (10-10) with a 56 point answer in the second half. Beau Beech, UNF junior forward, led the charge with 27 points with seven three-pointers. Trent Mackey, UNF junior forward, came off the bench with 12 points.

On the defensive front, Demarcus Daniels, UNF junior forward, and Jalen Nesbitt, UNF senior guard, both had seven rebounds. Nesbitt made 13 of 16 free throws with 19 total points. Chris Davenport, UNF sophomore forward, had three blocks. Dallas Moore, UNF sophomore guard, had seven assists.

“Lipscomb definitely played with more energy during the first half,” UNF Head Coach Matthew Driscoll said. “Fortunately, we kept battling defensively and didn’t allow them to really get a large separation. At the break, we told the guys we needed to just hit the refresh button and come out aggressive in the second half. To be able to respond with 56 points after scoring just 19 in the first half says a lot about the kind of players we have on our team.”

Next on the schedule, the men’s basketball team will return home to face the Kennesaw State Owls at 7:00 p.m. in the UNF Arena this Thursday, Jan. 29.
