Back to a Tropical Storm: Hermine weakens

Hurricane Hermine is back to Tropical Storm Hermine after making landfall 20 miles SE of Tallahassee around 2 a.m. this morning and reaching wind gusts of 80 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. Thousands lost power overnight on the First Coast and debris has cluttered the roads.

All counties remain under tropical storm warning and tornado warning as wind speeds and flooding are still a threat.

As of 6:15 a.m., Tropical Storm Hermine is moving NE through Georgia. Here in Jacksonville, expect 25 – 35 mph winds through mid-morning according to First Coast News.

The University of North Florida will remained closed and events such as Panhellenic Recruitment and the Laugh Out Loud comedy show also remain cancelled.
