Morning commuters who take Kernan Boulevard for their travels can thank AT&T for the newest factor in their early morning traffic.

A lane closure located on Kernan Boulevard right outside of Alumni Drive is turning the two-lane street into one for the foreseeable future.

The closure is due to networking company AT&T installing new cables and networking equipment in the ground.

A city of Jacksonville employee said that there isn’t anything they can do to enforce or prevent the company from working on this road at any given time.

They have asked that AT&T at least try not to do any construction or engineering work during peak hours to alleviate the impact it has on traffic in the area.

It is not clear at this point how long the lane will be closed. If you have questions or would like to voice your opinion to AT&T, you can contact their corporate number at 1-800-288-2020.
