The elite of the collegiate track and field world will convene at Hodges Stadium in 2019 and 2021, as the NCAA awarded the Division I Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Outdoor Championships to UNF.

Hodges Stadium, which opened in 2004, was the site for the 2012, 2015 and 2016 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Regionals. The championships take place May 23-25, 2019 and May 27-29, 2021. UNF will host events along with Jacksonville University. The events were coordinated in conjunction with the JaxSports Council. Past NCAA track and field championships have generated on average a $9-11 million economic impact, a release from JaxSports Council stated.

March madness is also coming to North Florida. Jacksonville Veteran’s Memorial Arena will host the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship first and second rounds in 2019 on March 21 and March 23. Jacksonville Veteran’s Memorial Arena hosted NCAA tournament games in 2006, 2010 and 2015.

UNF President John Delaney said the university was proud to be selected as a host.

“I’m confident that our city and University, with its first-class facilities, will shine in the national spotlight,” Delaney said.
