Four more UNF basketball players transferring to other schools

The seniors and Garrett Sams aren’t the only basketball players not returning next season. A quartet of Ospreys are also leaving the nest.

The seniors will be graduating while the other four players will be transferring to different schools.

CJ Fisher, Aaron Horne, Karlos Odum and Nick Malonga will all be transferring to other schools next season. The players have not announced publicly where they will transfer to but, they all plan on continuing their basketball careers at their new schools.

Garrett Sams also announced earlier this year that he’ll be transferring next season. Sams plans to walk on next season at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Even though the four players weren’t starters, being down four role players is detrimental to any team, especially after losing four pivotal players with Dallas Moore, Chris Davenport, Aaron Bodager and Garrett Sams.

Next season is sure to be a rebuilding year for the Ospreys, but they’re up for the challenge. Even with an almost empty nest, Assistant Coach Stephen Perkins took positives from the player departures.

“We are excited about reloading with some talented incoming players and [are] looking forward to a great season next year,” said Perkins.

After this offseason men’s basketball will be losing eight of their 14 current players to graduation or transfer. The Ospreys will be adding six new faces from the class of 2017, five guards and one forward.

There’s their inability to provide adequate class availability, their poorly functioning and ill-informed financial aid office, and severe lack of professors for what’s needed in terms of being able to offer core classes appropriately.

      But that’s just a few.
