Florida Governor Rick Scott has made three appointments to UNF’s Board of Trustees.

The appointments include Wilfredo Gonzalez, the district director of the United States Small Business Administration; Kevin Hyde, a partner with Foley and Lardner, LLP and former Jacksonville City Council President; and Stephen Joost, a partner in Firehouse Subs and also a former Jacksonville City Council President.

Caleb Grantham will take over the student spot, replacing Hailey Guerra on the board after winning the Student Government Presidency in this semester’s election.

The Board of Trustees consists of 13 leaders from the community who implement programs meeting the university’s mission, vote on new policies, handle the school’s budget, assure university decisions are within state standards and evaluate the university

The board consists of six members appointed by the Governor, five by the Board of Governors (similar to the Board of Trustees but for the entire state university system), the chair of the faculty senate or an equivalent position and the president of the university’s student body

The Florida Senate must confirm all appointees, excluding the faculty senate chair and student body president.

More information on the Board of Trustees can be found here.
