The University of North Florida men’s basketball team came away with a victory over the Trinity Baptist Eagles on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at the UNF Arena, nearly doubling their opponent’s score, 106-60. This win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Ospreys and set a school record for the most non-conference victories in a single Division I season.
After starting the year with a tough loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, Ala. last Friday, Driscoll hopes this triple-digit win will be the best remedy for the four-game slide the Ospreys were on.
“I’m very proud and honored for this team to have accomplished the feat of winning the most non-conference games as a Division I program,” UNF Head Coach Matthew Driscoll said. “What I love most about this group is they aren’t satisfied and they are focused on starting league play this weekend.”
Conference play for the Ospreys starts this Saturday, Jan. 10, as they travel to the Veterans Memorial Arena to face the Jacksonville University Dolphins in the long-awaited River City Rumble. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. and should be aired on ESPN3 for those who can’t make it downtown.
