Items stolen from Wellness Center locker

A UNF student had his Osprey1Card, driver’s license and debit card stolen after he left them in a locker at the Student Wellness Center.

The victim called UNFPD on Feb. 20 and said he placed the items and a t-shirt in the locker. He had a lock on the locker, but he said it was possible he didn’t secure it.

When the victim returned to the locker, he noticed the only item left was the t-shirt. He went to the office at the gym and asked if anyone turned in his missing property, but nobody had.

He said he contacted his bank to cancel the debit card, and the bank told him no transactions had been made. Patrol efforts have been suspended.

Four non-UNF students caught with weed, paraphernalia

Two 18-year-olds and two 17-year-olds were caught with marijuana and paraphernalia on Feb. 21.

An officer pulled over a vehicle for not coming to a complete stop at the corner of UNF Drive and Alumni Drive. He initiated the traffic stop at the corner of Kernan Boulevard and First Coast Technology Parkway.

When the officer approached the driver, he noticed the smell of marijuana. The officer asked the driver, one of the juveniles, to exit the vehicle, and she did. She said she didn’t think anything illegal was in the vehicle, so she let the officer search it.

The officer then asked the other juvenile to get out of the car, and he produced a grinder, a cigarillo and a marijuana roach.

The officer had one of the 18-year-olds step out of the car, and he stated he had a gram of marijuana in the glove box.

Finally, the officer had the other 18-year-old exit the vehicle, and he said he had a grinder under the front passenger seat.

After searching the car, the officer found all the items they mentioned.

The driver was issued a written warning for failure to obey a traffic control device, and the other three witnesses were released to their parents.

Another day, another weed bust

A 22-year-old non-UNF student received a Notice To Appear for possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on Feb. 22.

At about 1:06 a.m., an officer noticed a car’s tag lights weren’t functioning. The officer pulled the vehicle over on Kernan Boulevard at First Coast Technology Parkway.

When he approached the car, he noticed the smell of marijuana, and he saw smoke coming from the inside. The officer asked the suspect to step out of the vehicle, and he did.

The suspect said he had a blunt in the ashtray in the center console. He also said he had some marijuana in a plastic container and a grinder in his driver’s side door pocket.

The officer searched the vehicle and found those items. The suspect said they were his.
The officer issued him a Notice to Appear for possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also issued a written warning for the vehicle’s tag lights not functioning.
