Stolen Socks

A pair of socks were stolen from the UNF bookstore on Sept. 8.

The police report states UNFPD was approached about the theft around noon on Sept. 9.

According to the report, the suspect took a pair of Nike socks before proceeding upstairs to take off the wrapping on the socks, along with grabbing a pair of sunglasses from another display.

The suspect asked a witness at a register to throw the wrapping away. The witness took the wrapping and the suspect left the store with the socks, according to the report.

An officer reviewed the surveillance footage and confirmed the incident occurred as the complainant described. A copy of the footage will be submitted to JSO evidence for storage.

Patrol efforts are continuing.

Stolen Bike

A student in the Osprey Cove reported her stolen bike to UNFPD.

The police report states the victim locked her bike outside Osprey Cove building U on Sept. 13 at around 9 p.m. When she returned the following morning, her bike had been stolen.

The victim said in the report she found her bike lock in the same area the bike had been left in.

No canvas was conducted due to the delay in reporting and no usable evidence was available.

The case has not been cleared, but patrol efforts have been suspended.

Drug Bust

UNFPD responded to a report of a marijuana odor in Building Y of the Osprey Landing on Sept. 13.

According to the police report, an officer met with a Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) and the residents in question at the dorm around 7:30 p.m. and immediately smelled marijuana upon entering the room.

There were four people at the time, but only three of them admitted to smoking.

The residents were reportedly found in possession of a lighter, grinder, glass bong with residue, glass water bong and a small amount of marijuana.

One resident was issued a Notice to Appear for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. All residents are being referred to student conduct and the drug items have been placed in the JSO property room.
