Phone Threats

UNFPD investigated a series of threatening phone calls on Aug. 17 at Alumni Hall.

According to the police report, at around 8 a.m. a campus employee received six phone calls from a blocked caller on the university’s main number.

The employee stated that the calls escalated from mumbling and the use of profanities, to death threats. After telling the caller the police were being called, the employee says the caller hung up.

The employee was unable to determine the sex of the caller due to noise interference during the calls. UNFPD patrol efforts have been suspended.

Door Drilling

Multiple doors were vandalized in Building 15 on Aug. 8, according to a report by UNFPD.

The police report states that an officer responded to a report of vandalism around 7:30 a.m. The officer arrived to the scene and met with the complainant who stated the door to Rm. 2202 was damaged. An investigation revealed Building services had entered the room around 6 a.m. on Aug. 5 to clean. When they returned Aug. 8, they found the door had been damaged.

Over that weekend, suspects used an unknown device to drill a hole in the wood door near the handle, but there were no indications the suspects were able to enter the room.

Around 11 a.m. on Aug. 8 another complaint of vandalized doors in Building 15 was called in to UNFPD. Rooms 1202 and 1203 were both penetrated by a unknown device, leaving what appeared to be drill holes. Nothing was reported missing from either room.

No fingerprints or usable video evidence was obtained.

The case has not been cleared and patrol efforts have been suspended.

Lost Time

A resident in the Flats notified UNFPD of a burglary on Aug. 6.

According to the police report, an officer arrived at the scene and met with the victim and members of the housing staff. The victim stated he had left the apartment on Aug. 4 around 10 p.m. and didn’t return until the following night. Once inside, the victim noticed a strong cigarette smell and that a chair had been moved.

At around 8 a.m. the next morning, the victim noticed that his Michael Kors watch was missing.

The victim had previously lost his key on Aug. 1 and had been contacting his Community Assistant (CA) to unlock and lock his apartment. The CA had been present to lock the victim’s room on Aug. 4 and unlock it the following night.

Further investigation revealed no signs of forced entry, but that another apartment in the same complex had also been burglarized.

A canvas of the area was conducted and a key audit has started for the apartment. UNFPD was unable to contact the CA. Patrol efforts have been suspended due to lack of suspect information.
