UNF Cross Country ranks 10th in South Region

The U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association ranked the UNF women’s cross country team 10th in the South Region, giving the program its first-ever Division I national ranking.

The ranking comes on the heels of the team’s first place finish at the Sodexho Stetson Hatter Invitational Oct. 16, which took place at the site of this year’s Atlantic Sun Conference Championships.

Freshman Shelby Kittrell led the UNF women finishing third out of 174 runners while sophomore Erin Heasely led the Ospreys clocked an eighth place finish and the second best time of her career. The association gave Kennesaw State University, the only other A-Sun team to make the rankings, 13th in their ranking debut.

The UNF cross country teams will race Oct. 31 at Stetson University for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.
