UNF’s redshirt freshman catcher Blake Voyles saved the game for the Ospreys (5-4) in the ninth inning on Wednesday night against Georgia Southern (5-4) at Harmon Stadium. With two outs looming overhead, Voyles’ shot to left field sent Nick Karmeris and Corbin Olmstead to home plate ending the game in favor of the Ospreys, 5-4.
Starting January 2015, home games of UNF men’s and women’s basketball will be streaming from ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN app. Led by communications professor Dr. Deeley, student volunteers will make up the production team, which wishes to expand coverage to other varsity sports and away games.
In the second game of the season, the Ospreys defeated the Webber Warriors 79-55 in the UNF home turf. The win marks Head Coach Matthew Driscoll’s 100th career victory. The Ospreys are traveling to their next set of away games against Northwestern and Northern Iowa as well as the annual Cancun Challenge on Nov. 25.
The UNF women’s soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles in their first conference game of the season on Sept. 26.
