Lecture – “Gun Control: A Loaded Topic”

SPONSORS: OneJax Institute, The Florida Times-Union, WJCT and Jacksonville Human Rights Commission

WHERE: UNF Fine Arts Center, Building 45, Lazzara Performance Hall

WHAT: OneJax’s Civil Discourse series presents “Gun Control: A Loaded topic.” According to UNF’s calendar event, the lecture will feature different  perspectives on gun rights and gun control. Former NFL offense lineman Richard Collier and National Rifle Association representative Cord Byrd will join the panel, among others. University President John Delaney will moderate the discussion. Free tickets are available to reserve here.

Campus Life – Capture The Flag

WHAT: Osprey Productions is hosting a late night game of capture the flag on campus. The game starts at 9 p.m. at the Brooks College Plaza.

Campus Life – Butterflies and Caterpillars Identification Workshop

WHAT: Learn about the different butterflies, moths and caterpillars that linger in the garden with biology student Kate Dejong.

Special Event – Writing Center Workshop: Research Questions

WHAT: Formatting, finding credible sources and getting started on a research essay doesn’t have to be the bane of your college career. This workshop help answer questions you have regarding research projects.

FRIDAY, OCT. 16

Special Event – Tour of Jacksonville’s Recycling Facility

SPONSOR: Environmental Center

WHEN: 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

WHERE: Parking Lot 7

WHAT: Take a tour of UNF’s 70,000-square-foot recycling facility and learn how it processes all kinds of materials. The campus shuttle will pick students up from Lot 7, which is located next to J. Brooks Brown Hall. Students must wear closed-toes shoes.
