The Weekend Ahead: May 26 – 30

Make the most of the long weekend, and remember the reason behind it. Memorial Day is celebrated during a blossoming time of the year when the United States remembers soldiers who died while serving in the military. Do not confuse this with Veterans Day, which honors all members of the military.

Thursday, May 26 – Glazed, X88B88, Graham Snuggs and others play at 1904 Music Hall

What: Enjoy live indie, punk and acoustic music from Florida’s Glazed, X88B88 and Graham Snuggs and South Carolina’s Oneforall, Unsettled and Jonah Canepa. Tickets are $10 on the 1904 Music Hall’s website.

When: 7 p.m.

Where: 1904 Music Hall

Thursday, May 26 – Saturday, May 28 – NCAA East Preliminaries

What: The University of North Florida and the city of Jacksonville pair up to host the NCAA East Preliminaries for track and field

When: Varying times between 12 and 10 p.m.

Where: Hodges Stadium

Friday, May 27 – Monday, May 30 – St. Augustine Premium Outlets Sale

What: Liven up your closet with fresh finds at St. Augustine’s Premium Outlets, which is discounting prices from 25 to 65 percent in honor of Memorial Day.

When: Friday and Saturday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ; Sunday: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. ; Monday: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Saturday, May 28 – Practically Perfect Picnic

What: Dress in your Saturday best and get to know the Jacksonville community at this fancy picnic perfect for socializing on the grass instead of the screen. Remember: a picnic isn’t complete without a snack-filled picnic basket and a soft blanket, so bring yours.

When: 2 – 5 p.m.

Where: Memorial Park in Riverside

Monday, May 30 – Rock on the River

What: Local and international rock bands – ranging from TOMBOI to Young the Giant – make summer loud for Jacksonvillians excited for bold music. Admission is free.

When: 1 p.m.

Where: The Jacksonville Landing
