The following information is all according to UNFPD reports.
Injured person (Bldg. 59) – Feb. 20
An officer was dispatched at 11:15 a.m. in response to an injured UNF faculty member.
The officer met with a witness who told the officer that the injured faculty member, the victim, had fallen in a lab.
The witness said he learned of the incident through a teaching assistant who said the faculty member had not been feeling well, and she stepped into a prep room.
The police report says at some point the victim struck her head and landed on the floor.
The officer saw the victim in her office chair. She was disoriented and wasn’t sure what happened. She said she had head pain and felt nauseous.
The officer said the back of the victim’s head looked like it had swelling and a small amount of blood.
JFR transported the victim to Baptist Medical Center.
The victim said the lab would be inspected/cleaned for any biological hazards.
The officer notified UNF custodial via UNF Communications.
Sick person (Bldg. 39) – Feb. 20
An officer was dispatched to Student Health Services regarding a sick student.
The officer arrived and met with medical staff who told the officer the subject might have [redacted].
The subject told the officer he had been doing push-ups earlier that day and said since then he noticed an odd bluish purple coloring along the veins in his right arm.
The subject also complained of upper back pain and leg sensitivity.
JFR responded and transported the subject to Mayo Clinic for evaluation.
Theft (Bldg. 61) – Feb. 20
An officer was dispatched at 8:10 p.m. in response to a report of theft at the Student Wellness Complex.
The officer arrived and met with two UNF students and one non-student.
The first student, the victim, said he locked up his backpack with his iPhone at 5:30 p.m. in the Men’s Locker Room. He returned at 8 p.m. and his backpack was missing. He checked with an attendant at the front desk and the attendant said someone found the backpack in the locker room bathroom.
The victim checked his backpack and his iPhone was missing.
The second student and the non-student said they locked their wallets together in one locker at 6 p.m. They said their wallets and keys were missing from their locker. The two searched the locker room, didn’t find anything, and told the front desk attendant what happened.
The second student said his wallet was black with RVCA engraved on the front. The wallet included a Wells Fargo debit and credit card, a Best Buy credit card, a fishing license, and a Florida driver’s license.
The second student called the police station at 9:45 p.m. and said someone spent $126 on his card at Texaco.
The non-student said his wallet was black and included a Philadelphia Eagle Master Card, American Express Credit Card, ESSA debit card, Navy Reserve ID, and a driver’s license.
According to the report, the three victims were told to turn off their credit cards and cell phone.
A canvass wasn’t done because of the time factor and location of the incident. No fingerprints were taken because of the time span of the offense.
The officer recommended that this case be suspended until more follow up information is given or if any suspects can be identified.
Car damage (Lot 11) – Feb. 21
Damaged area: Driver side rearview mirror
Damage value: $185
Damage: wire and plastic seal exposed, mirror still attached.
Victim: UNF student
The officer checked the parking lot for other damages and found nothing. He said the damage to the mirror was consistent with a person walking through the lot and pushing down the mirror.
There are no suspects. A canvass wasn’t done because of the isolated nature of the parking lot.
Sick person (The Fountains) – Feb. 22
A UNFPD officer arrived and met with the complainant, 20, who seemed very drunk, according to the report.
The complainant said he had been throwing up multiple times, and had been drinking at a tailgate for the UNF Homecoming game.
The officer requested for rescue to check on the complainant.
JFRD’s Rescue 59 responded and transported the subject to Mayo Clinic. The subject said he didn’t want his emergency contacts notified of the incident.
The officer recommended the subject to be referred to Student Conduct.
