Kick start the end of the semester and your weekend on Friday, April 24th with UNF’s women’s soccer team as they host the Osprey Cup Tournament at the practice facilities by Hodges Stadium. The tournament begins at 2 p.m.

The Osprey Cup is not only a tournament, but also a fundraiser for the women’s soccer team, according to Head Coach Robin Confer. She believes it will be a great way to expand their fanbase and have more people cheering the team on in the stands.

“The money will be used to help supplement our budget and also to bring awareness to our program,” Confer said.

Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place winners of the tournament, as well as for best uniforms and best juggler on the field. According to Confer, the prize for first place will be $100. In addition, the fraternity and sorority with the most representation will have a reserved tailgating spot for all women’s soccer home games in Lot 18 for the Fall 2015 Season.

There will also be free food and raffle events going on for all who wish to attend, but not compete in the tournament. Prizes range from gift cards to tickets for Jacksonville Jaguar NFL games.

“We want to make it a fun event and involve the UNF student body and staff,” Confer said.

Registration for the tournament is open online on the Facebook page, North Florida Women’s Soccer until Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 and costs 10 dollars per player. There is a five player minimum per team and a seven player maximum. It is open to all UNF students.

“Cash prizes, free food, and why not?,” answered defensive player Caitlin Kader when asked why students should attend the tournament.
