UNFPD posted an alert on their website asking for assistance in identifying two suspects involved in multiple burglaries and thefts that happened on campus.

According to UNFPD’s report, the first incident happened on Feb. 3.

Matt Driscoll, UNF men’s basketball coach, reported his wallet stolen sometime between 7:45 p.m. and 7:53 p.m. His wallet included a University P-card.

According to UNFPD records, Stephen Joseph Perkins and Byron Wayne Taylor, UNF men’s assistant basketball coaches, identified the suspect as a black male with a light skin complexion between the age of 18 and 24.

The assistant coaches said the suspect had black eyes, was 6’ to 6’2”, and had no facial hair. They said he was wearing glasses, a black hat, a white t-shirt with a graphic logo, and red tennis shoes.

Lieutenant Dwayne Howard with UNFPD said both Perkins and Taylor confirmed a suspect in the security footage where the cards were used fraudulently was the same man they described.

The second theft happened around 10 p.m. the same night. A staff member’s University P-card was stolen from Building 50 from inside a desk drawer that had been broken into, according to UNFPD records.

The third theft happened sometime before 10 p.m. A student’s wallet was stolen in Building 45, the Photo Lab.

UPD reported two alleged suspects were seen on video in a local Walmart using the credit cards.

Joanna Norris, Director of public relations, said they have just found out about the crime alert and students will be notified via email on Feb. 17.

UNFPD is requesting anyone with information on either of the two suspects to call their non-emergency phone number at (904) 620-2800. Callers can remain anonymous.
