Women’s basketball moves to 1-4 in conference play

The University of North Florida women’s basketball team, after achieving their first Atlantic Sun Conference game victory on Thursday, succumbed to another A-Sun Conference opponent, the Lipscomb University Bisons, with a final score of 71-62 at the UNF Arena on Jan. 24.

Early in the first half the Ospreys pulled ahead to a 17-10 score, but Lipscomb regained the lead shortly after by putting up 12 unanswered points, making the score 22-17. Lipscomb continued to run up the score with UNF trailing behind, leaving the score at 31-26 by the end of the first half. In the final 20 minutes the same pattern continued, with UNF trailing by a small margin. UNF was ultimately unable to pull back into the lead.

Paulina Zaveckaite, UNF senior, continued her recent offensive showing with 23 points for the night. Brittney Wright, UNF senior guard, had eight assists.

The Ospreys get back on the hardwood on Thursday, Jan. 29 at Kennesaw State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
