UNF to not appeal 13 percent tuition increase

UNF will not appeal the decision by the Board of Governors to approve a 13 percent tuition increase after the university requested a 15 percent increase to tuition.

“We appreciate the work of the Board of Governors and are satisfied with its decision. In a sign of respect for the Board, we are not appealing the decision.” UNF President John A. Delaney said in a release by the university.

On Thursday the Board of Governors voted to increase UNF to 13 percent. A 15 percent increase is the legal limit tuition can be increased in a single year.

The 13 percent increase will give UNF an extra $3.5 million dollars, according to Jacksonville.com, but the full 15 percent would have added an extra $500,000.

Only four schools received the full 15 percent- Florida Atlantic, Florida International, New College of Florida, and the University of Central Florida. UNF and Florida State University each received 13 percent.
