Fassi announced his formal resignation of the Red Party Chair in the Student Government Senate meeting Jan. 27.*
He said, “I won’t be running for re-election. The party’s leadership is [Joseph] Turner.”
This is Fassi’s last term as SG President and his last day is April 10.
Fassi has already served two terms as SG President, which is the term limit.
He said he doesn’t feel like it’s resigning, but rather handing it over, and it had to be done eventually.
When asked if it had to do with former Vice-President Namen, Fassi said, “I don’t know. That’s a question you should ask him.”
Fassi said he received an incredible amount of support from administration, members of student government, and members of the Red Party in making his decision to resign as the Red Party Chair.
“It was a tough decision, but one I don’t regret,” he said. “There are some students that agree and disagree with what I’ve done. I’m more focused on what Joe [Turner] is going to do.”
Fassi said he’s focused on the jobs that he has to finish before his term ends.
