The UNF Potter’s Guild is hosting The UNF National Juried Ceramics Exhibition from March 4 till April 18.

Opening Reception: March 6  from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: UNF Gallery of Art, Founders Hall, Building 2, Room 1001

There are students from all over the country with work in the show, and one UNF Alumni Seth Charles, who now attends Central Washington University’s Graduate Program. No current UNF students have work in the exhibit.

The show was juried by UNF visiting artist Barabara Ritzman Devereaux and University of Missouri professor of art Bede Clarke.

Stephen Heywood, UNF ceramics professor, said when a national juried show comes around, the call goes out to people all over the country to submit artwork. For this show, artists could submit three images of their work for a fee. Clarke judged the work blindly, meaning the creators of each piece remained anonymous during his deliberation.

Out of the 288 works submitted, 50 were accepted. All the works are ceramic based but range from sculpture to pottery and mixed media.

Heywood said anyone who cannot afford the work at the show can purchase ceramic pieces at the UNF Potter’s Guild Sale on March 5 in the SU plaza and at Art Walk.
