Pending approval by the College of Computing Engineering and Construction, UNF plans to honor Nicholas Hare by presenting him with a posthumous degree in civil engineering.
According to Sharon Ashton, UNF will present the degree during the Spring 2016 Commencement Ceremony.

UNF senior Nicholas Hare died on Aug. 28 after being shot by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Later that night, the suspect attempted suicide.
According to a GoFundMe in Hare’s name, Hare was 34 years old and a civil engineering student in his last year at UNF. Dean of Students Thomas Van Schoor confirmed his enrollment and major.
