North Florida’s star guard Dallas Moore became the first UNF basketball player to ever score 2,000 points. On Jan. 2, Moore netted 23 points and brought his total career points to 2,008.

Moore is arguably the best player to ever wear a UNF jersey. Head Coach Matthew Driscoll spoke on Moore.

“He’s a special talent. I’m not sure if we’ll have another one around here like that,” Driscoll said. “I hope we do [be]cause it makes things a lot easier.”

This accomplishment is the most recent of many accolades that the senior guard has earned, including the 2015-16 ASUN Player of the Year, All Atlantic Sun First Team during both the 2014-15 and 2015-16 season and the Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year in 2013-14.

Moore did test the draft waters last season, before deciding to return back to North Florida for his senior season. This season, scouts from the Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Clippers have been at games to watch UNF’s brightest star.

Moore has had five 30-point games this season, scoring a season-high 37 points against Edward Waters College during North Florida’s home opener. The captain definitely leads by example, and has scored in the double-digits during every game since Nov. 14, 2016.

The point guard has now joined an elite group of ASUN players, becoming the eighth student athlete to reach the 2,000-point mark.

You can catch Moore and the rest of the team at the Swisher Gym on Jan. 7, as they face cross-town rival Jacksonville University with tip off at 7 p.m.
