While conducting rounds, two resident assistants and an area coordinator smelled the strong odor of marijuana emanating from a dorm room in the Osprey Cove residence halls and notified UPD. The responding officer also noticed the odor and knocked on the door. There was a delay in answering, but a male resident allowed the officer to enter and search the room. The officer found a red bong with remnants of marijuana bud, a multicolored glass pipe, multicolored glass bong with marijuana residue and a plastic bag containing marijuana. Between another male and two females also present, two muscle relaxers, a multicolored glass pipe and chrome grinder both with marijuana residue were found. All four were referred to Student Conduct.

Sept. 22 – Burglary (Lot 5)

Student Ashley Gannon reported her premium parking pass was stolen Sept. 17 between 10 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. after inadvertently leaving her vehicle unlocked. She was not able to file a report at the time, due to being sick, and therefore the vehicle was not processed for latent prints. As there are no viable leads to pursue, patrol efforts have been suspended.

Sept. 21 – Grand Theft (Bldg. 8)

Student Christopher Stevens reported his bike stolen after securing it with a combination lock before going to class and returning to find both the lock and bike missing. The responding officer attempted to conduct a canvas of the area, but there were few people around. Other bike racks were checked to see if the stolen property could be located, but efforts were unsuccessful.

Sept 21 – Fraudulent Activity (Bldg. 41)

A young male attempted to order pizza over the telephone Sept. 17 and was told his debit card was overdrawn. After pulling his account up online, he realized there were several transactions on his account he did not make. He filled an affidavit Sept. 21 about the charges and went to UPD to report them after being advised to do so.

Sept. 20 – Criminal Mischief (Lot 12)

Rachel Keith reported her Jeep Wrangler was vandalized after a friend sent her a text message saying her tires were flat. The air was let out of three of the tires, and it was keyed. No other vehicles in the area had been vandalized, and an attempt to lift fingerprints from the tire valves yielded negative results.

Sept. 25 – Illness (Osprey Fountains)

An officer was dispatched to the fountains in reference to a sick student. The student was sitting upright but visibly sick to his stomach; he is currently taking insulin medication and may have suffered a reaction. Jacksonville Fire Rescue personnel arrived and transported him to the Mayo Clinic.

Sept. 25 – Intoxication (Bldg. W)

Two female students advised UPD of a young male walking around Osprey Landings at 4 a.m. punching the walls. When the officer arrived he spoke with the student, who had a swollen right hand and admitted he had been drinking. The student blew a .144 on the portable breathalyzer test. He said he was punching the wall because he was upset with himself, but his hand did not appear to be broken. He was transported to River Point hospital and referred to student conduct.
