The UNF nature trails are currently closed due to safety concerns following Hurricane Irma.
Multiple trees and debris have fallen as a result of the hurricane that blew through Florida last week, and cleanup is currently in progress. Signs have been placed at the trail entry points, alerting the community to the closure.
The trails will reopen after the debris has been cleared.
“Re-opening of the trails is pending the clearing of the fallen trees, which is currently being scheduled with Physical Facilities,” said Heather Kite, the associated director of Recreation and Wellness Operations.
In addition to cleaning up the trails, UNF Recreation and Wellness is continuing their project to rebuild the trail boardwalk. It is expected to reach completion by the end of the semester.
