Police Beat Jan. 5, 2011

Police Beat 1-5-11Dec. 1 – Burglary (Lot 55)

UPD responded to a student reporting a stolen parking permit. The student claims to have parked the vehicle securely in Lot 55 Nov. 30 at approximately 10:30 p.m. After returning to his vehicle the next day at approximately 5:30 p.m., he found his decal missing. Due to the large span of the parking lot, no witness or suspect was identified.

Dec. 2 – Petty Theft, Fraud (Bldg. 26)

UPD responded to a theft complaint by a student who found his backpack missing from an unlocked men’s locker room at the pool. The student’s wallet was stolen, which included his debit and ATM cards. The locker has yet to be dusted for fingerprints and the investigation still continues.

Dec. 4 – Burglary (Parking lot)
After three days of parking at a lot, a student contacted Parking Services after receiving three tickets on his vehicle for parking with the wrong pass. After investigation, the student’s pass was found missing and replaced by an expired one. Further investigation revealed the expired pass belonged to the victim’s friend.

Dec. 5 – Fraud (Osprey Village)
A student contacted UPD about an email he received from his bank stating purchases were made on his credit card that he never made. Three unknown purchases were made somewhere in California from the student’s debit card. No suspect information is available yet.

Dec. 10 – Complaint (UNF Arena)
A visitor at the UNF graduation ceremony fell down the steps while walking down section 32, row C. She complained of a bump on the back of her head and mild dizziness when UPD arrived. Rescue personnel #50 transported her to Mayo Clinic.

Dec. 10 – Complaint (UNF Arena)
Another visitor at the UNF graduation ceremony was visibly sick to his stomach and complained of complications with his diabetes. Jacksonville Fire Rescue #28 transported him to St. Luke’s Hospital for further evaluation.
