“Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy forget in time that men have died to win them.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt
When most think of Memorial Day, they think of the start of summer, a three-day weekend, sales and family picnics. While the three-day weekend is a nice opportunity to spend time with family and friends, it is also a time to remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom to do so.
More than 1.3 million men and women gave their lives in service to our country knowing that they were serving a higher purpose than themselves: protecting the rights and freedoms of the people of the United States. Many died fighting before they reached the age of 25.
We live in a time where everything is fast-paced; you just need to look at your phone to see what’s going on across the world. Information is consumed so quickly and then forgotten twice as fast. During this reflective holiday, please take a moment to remember those brave men and women, whose memory we honor and whose sacrifice we can never repay.
