Uber is headed toward more secure safety regulations by rolling out some brand new features to their app.

The biggest of these new features is one that is intended to help app users in not mistaking a random car for the one they’ve ordered through Uber’s ride-sharing system. This feature gives in-depth information about the car and driver that the customer is to receive by giving the passenger the license plate and make and model of the car. The app will also give users a photo of the driver next to their name.

Specifically for college students, Uber has partnered with multiple universities across the country to designate specific pick-up spots on campus. Uber has also added a feature called “campus rides” which allows students to safely pick up a ride during hours with scarce options, like late nights and early mornings.

These changes are following the abuse and murder of 21-year-old Samantha Josephson, a student at the University of South Carolina who got into a random car under the impression that it was the Uber she had ordered. The vehicle and the driver had nothing to do with the ride sharing app and the child locks were on.
