Green, Ospreys take one of two in ASUN/MAAC Challenge

Janesha Green had an impressive performance with a combined 41 points through two games as the Ospreys clashed with Marist and Rider University.  

The Ospreys fell short in their first matchup against undefeated Marist, 69-54, in the ASUN/MAAC Challenge at the HP Fieldhouse in Orlando.

Tiffany Tolbert landed a lay up in the paint to give UNF its biggest lead of the game, 19-14, in the second quarter as the Ospreys opened with a 6-0 run from a pair of buckets by Adrienne Jackson.

The fourth quarter gave the Red Foxes the stretch they needed to land a win at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Marist’s lead in the final quarter was a result of six straight points as part of a 12-4 run that gave the Red Foxes a 60-50 lead with less than four minutes on the clock.

The Ospreys fall to (3-3) on the season after their loss to the Red Foxes (4-0).

Green led the Ospreys with 14 points on the game and four assists.

The Ospreys closed out their weekend in Orlando with an 80-70 victory against Rider on Saturday night, the first meeting between the two teams.

Green netted 27 points while Tiffany Tolbert landed 23 points, both players hitting career-high totals in their career with the Ospreys. Green scored 13 of her 27 points in the final seven minutes of the matchup.

North Florida took the lead in the first quarter at 15-11, after a 9-2 run by the Ospreys. UNF held a slim one-point lead going into the half after Jazz Bond netted a three-pointer with nine seconds on the clock. The Ospreys ensured a win in the final quarter after they broke away from the back-and-forth with a 31-20 scoring difference.

The Broncs were ranked No. 22 in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll as of November 19.

The Ospreys (4-3) continue their road trip on Friday, November 29 against Norfolk State in the JU Thanksgiving Classic at noon.
