The following information is according to reports from the UNF Police Department.

A male student contacted UNFPD Jan. 15 claiming he was threatened by a female student’s boyfriend. The victim said he had consensual sex with the female in Sept. 2014 at a party. However, when UNFPD spoke to the suspect, he provided a conflicting story.

UNFPD met with the victim on Jan. 15. He said the female’s boyfriend, listed in the UNFPD report as the suspect, approached the victim on Jan. 14 saying that his girlfriend told him the victim raped her. The victim told the suspect the sex was consensual. He also told the suspect they had both been drinking and smoking pot. The suspect allegedly told him if he ever looked weird at him, his friends or his girlfriend, he would “beat the s— out of him,” according to the victim’s statement in the police report. The suspect allegedly also said the girlfriend’s father was looking for him and there was a “s— storm” coming for him. The suspect then punched the wall next to himself and walked out.

On Jan. 16, the suspect told UNFPD his version of the story. He said his girlfriend told him the victim raped her before she had met the suspect. According to the police report, the suspect claims he saw the victim with other people talking outside of a dorm room in the Landing on Jan. 14. Following them into the room, he told the victim he wanted to talk to him about the alleged rape of his girlfriend. The victim allegedly told the suspect they were both “cross faded” and the sex was consensual. The suspect then allegedly told the victim to stay away from his girlfriend or he would hurt him. The suspect told UNFPD he didn’t hit the victim, but he did punch the wall as he walked out of the room. The suspect denied saying anything about looking at his friends or his girlfriend. He also claimed he never said anything about the girlfriend’s father coming for the victim.

According to the police report, Housing offered the victim a Safe Room until he could be moved to another permanent room, but he declined, saying he would stay with a friend off campus.

The suspect was referred to Student Conduct and the victim was referred to the State Attorney’s Office, according to Frank Mackesy, Chief of UNFPD.
