Spinnaker Media is UNF’s completely student-run multimedia center and a place for students to gain hands-on experience with media production and management. Spinnaker supports UNF Spinnaker, an award-winning digital newspaper; WSKR 95.5FM-LP Spinnaker Radio, a low-power FM radio station; and Spinnaker TV, which airs on YouTube.

Spinnaker offers paid part-time positions, internships, and volunteer opportunities, allowing UNF students of any discipline to immerse themselves in the world of media.

Our Mission

The mission of Spinnaker Media is to provide the university community with news, entertainment, and a forum for the exchange of ideas, while also providing a lab for media innovation for students. Through the production of various mass media, students gain practical experience in newsgathering and dissemination, management, audio and video production, advertising, and the industry’s business aspects.

Volunteering

Volunteering at Spinnaker Media is a great way to get involved on campus, build your resume, and network with other students. Students of all disciplines and majors are encouraged to volunteer with Spinnaker.

Our volunteer roles include:

Live DJ – Select the music playing on WSKR 95.5 FM.
Podcasters – record your podcast in our studio and air it on WSKR 95.5FM.
Writers – Write a book, music, or film reviews for UNFSpinnaker.com and Spinnakerradio.com.
Reporters – Write news articles for UNFSpinnaker.com or news packages for Spinnaker TV and WSKR 95.5FM.
Photographers
Videographers – Help make Spinnaker TV shows or video content for social media.
Anchor or Host a Spinnaker TV show.
Sports Commentators – assist with Spinnaker Radio’s play-by-play coverage of UNF games.
Graphic Designers – create illustrations and marketing material for a variety of platforms.
Copy Editors – ensure that Spinnaker articles are accurate and grammatically correct.

Internships

Are you looking for an internship for course credit toward your English or Communication degree?

Paid student jobs

Working at Spinnaker Media is a great way to get paid for a job you love while building your resume. Students of all majors and disciplines are encouraged to apply for Spinnaker jobs. We are now hiring for the Fall 2025 semester. Apply online via Workday.

Please note that you must be a student continuously enrolled at UNF for the duration of the position and not be on academic probation or suspension, as defined by the most recent University of North Florida course catalog, to be eligible for any of the following positions.
