Jan. 19 – Drug violation (UNF Drive) – A speeding vehicle was stopped at 2:30 a.m. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.
The driver admitted to smoking a joint. A search of the vehicle revealed a little more than 2 grams of marijuana hidden in the center console.
After almost nine years as UNF police chief, Mark Foxworth stepped down from his post to become a street cop for the Fernandina Beach Police Department. Assistant Chief John Dean took Foxworth’s place Dec. 13 as the new police chief of UPD.
