A mother and her baby were pulled from their overturned vehicle after it sped through Kernan Boulevard and landed in a ravine. After witnessing the vehicle lose control, two UNF students took part in the rescue efforts that saved their lives.

On the UNF campus, the student organization Hope for Haiti has organized disaster-relief efforts along with the Jacksonville nonprofit organization Mission Harvest America.

Jan. 19 – Drug violation (UNF Drive) – A speeding vehicle was stopped at 2:30 a.m. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. The driver admitted to smoking a joint. A search of the vehicle revealed a little more than 2 grams of marijuana hidden in the center console.
