The Ospreys won the River City Rumble 2-0 against their hometown rival, Jacksonville University, this past Saturday, Oct. 4 at Hodges Stadium. North Florida has not beaten the Dolphins since 2009 and this is the first time since 2003 that they have shut them out. UNF improves to 4-4 for the season and 1-1 in conference play after a tough opener against Stetson.

Junior Helge Pietschmann led the way for the Ospreys, scoring both goals of the evening, while junior Kyle Nasta earned his second career shutout as goalie. The UNF men’s soccer team improves to a 3-0 record when playing at home this season.

“We really challenged Helge this week and he is really coming around with his fitness and his health,” Head Coach Derek Marinatos said. “We were proud to see him get two goals.”

The Dolphins managed to only take three shots the entire game and none of them on goal. Coach Marinatos was very pleased with the Osprey’s defensive performance on Saturday night.

The Osprey’s next game is another Atlantic-Sun Conference match in Spartanburg, S.C. against the University of South Carolina Spartans on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
