UNF men’s tennis competed on the road over the weekend

Over the weekend, North Florida participated in two different tournaments, the FGCU Invite in Fort Myers and the Gator Ranked +1 Tournament in Gainesville.

During the FGCU Invite, junior Till Von Winning and freshman Nilo Duarte played against the Eagles in singles matches.

Winning and Duarte both earned wins against their Eagle opponents. Winning finished with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Ramirez Felipe, while Duarte finished in a set win with 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (0-2) against Ezequiel Cerrini.

Junior Sahil Deshmukh also played in the invite’s singles match, but was defeated by Eagles player Oliver Landert.

During the doubles match, Winning and Deshmukh, who was paired together, took down Landert and Felipe Escobar in a 6-4 win. In the second doubles match, FGCU duo Cerrini and Javier Fernandez defeated Duarte and redshirt junior Alberto De Meo 6-4.

In the Gator Ranked +1 Tournament in  Gainesville, returning seniors Lasse Muscheites and Jefta Kecic played in the singles matches. Both seniors were defeated in their matches where they faced individuals from the  University of Florida and the University of Louisville .

Muscheites had a 6-4, 7-5 loss against Gators’ Chase Perez-Blanco, while Cardinals’ Nico Rouanet defeated Kecic in a 6-2, 6-2 set.  

Muscheites and Kecic will be at the ITA All-American Championships at Tulsa University on Sept. 29, while the rest of the Ospreys will be at the Bedford Cup on Oct. 6.
