The UNF men’s basketball team used a strong second half to pull away from the University of Wyoming to grab its first win of the season, 76-60, at the Arena-Auditorium Thursday night.
Sophomore Andy Diaz, who has been the Ospreys leading scorer for the early part of the season, led them again with a double-double that consisted of a career high 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Sharp shooting sophomore Parker Smith added 13 points and Mandarin High School graduate and freshman Charles McRoy also added 13 points.
The Ospreys outscored the Cowboys 44-26 in the second half to help them pull away.
Taking care of the ball and playing defense has been a point of focus for head coach Matthew Driscoll so far this season. It showed against the Cowboys. The Ospreys forced 16 turnovers and only gave it away eight times. They also outrebounded the Cowboys 39-32.
UNF gets right back to action tomorrow (Saturday) night against Missouri before heading south of the border to Cancun, Mexico to wrap up the Cancun Challenge.
