The new Tech Desk in the Thomas G. Carpenter Library gives University of North Florida students and community members a more visible place to get help with technology issues.
The desk opened April 20, according to Tim Hunter, assistant director of operations at the Information Technology Services Help Desk.
The original ITS Help Desk was located around the corner from the library’s front desk, making it harder for students to find. The new Tech Desk is an extension of that service and is designed to help with issues involving computers, tablets and phones, according to Hunter.
“COVID shut everything down, of course, and we went to kind of a chat-only system,” Hunter said. “But whenever we came back, we had this idea of a walk-up desk where you could come and get some help.”
Hunter said the Tech Desk can assist with password issues, Microsoft authentication and connecting to Wi-Fi.
The ITS Help Desk and Tech Desk are open for walk-ins from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays.
