On the evening of Sunday, Aug. 26, UNF President David Szymanski sent out a Special Osprey Update in response to the mass shooting that occurred at the Jacksonville Landing earlier the same day.

“Our hearts are with the victims and the families of the victims of the shooting at the Jacksonville Landing in downtown,” Szymanski said. “While we have no information that any of the victims are in any way connected to UNF, we know that when tragedy hits close to home, we’re all impacted.  It’s a very sad day in our community. ”

He continued on to discuss the resources available to students experiencing difficulty in light of the incident, such as the UNF Counseling Center.

“This is a good time to remember: if you see something, say something, no matter where you are. It’s unfortunate that we live in a world where we all must be constantly vigilant, but it’s reality,” he affirmed.
