Pop is a widely adored genre that continues to attract new audiences with upbeat and catchy tunes. The alternative genre, otherwise known as “alt,” grows in popularity as well, with its novel sound derived from traditional rock. Both genres have a countless number of artists, some of the bigger names touring for the year 2026. Here are a couple of pop and alt shows happening in the area.
This first band decided to take the word “tour” to a new terrain. Modest Mouse has announced a cruise titled “Ice Cream Floats.” Modest Mouse is a well-known alternative band famous for songs such as “Float On.” This cruise is setting sail on Feb. 5 to Miami, FL, then to Puerto Plata, DR, for a total of three shows. There’s a nice lineup of performers attending this cruise, including Portugal. The Man, Ugly Casanova, Black Heart Procession, and many more. Ticket information can be found on their website.
If going on a cruise is a bit too far-fetched, there are shows to see on land as well. Portugal. The Man, one of the performers for the “Ice Cream Floats” cruise, can be seen on Feb. 12 doing a show at the FIVE in Jacksonville, FL. The show officially starts at 8 p.m. in Portugal. The Man on their “Denali” tour will be making many stops in the state of Florida. They are known for their alt and indie sound, one of their most popular songs being “Dummy.” These shows will include songs from their recent album, “SHISH.” More information can be found on their website.
Moving on to pop artists, Ruel is performing at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, FL on Feb. 15th. Ruel mixes both the pop and indie genres in his music. He is known for songs such as “Painkiller” and “GROWING UP IS___.” The “Kicking My Feet” tour will feature songs from his album, “Kicking My Feet.” The show officially starts at 7 p.m. Ticket information can be found on the artist’s website.
Lastly, known for his pop hits, Conan Gray is stopping at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA, and the Kia Center in Orlando, FL. Conan Gray is a widely known indie-pop artist known for the songs “Heather” and “Vodka Cranberry.” The show in Atlanta, GA takes place on March 6 at 8 p.m. The Orlando, FL show takes place on March 7 at 8 p.m. The “Wishbone Pajama Party World Tour” will feature songs from his most recent album, “Wishbone,” and Esha Tewari is headlining.
