As finals approach, the University of North Florida is hosting campus events focused on wellness, nature, and self-expression.
Each event emphasizes opportunities for students to relax, fuel their bodies and connect with the campus community as a way to balance academic demands and overall wellness.
Housing Grab and Go Breakfast
The UNF Department of Housing and Residence Life will host a grab-and-go breakfast for a healthy end to the semester, according to the university’s event calendar.
In line with the finals schedule, students can stop by Osprey Fountains for bagels and healthy habits to help them push through finals. Additionally, they will be able to ask questions about closing their residences and moving out.
Housing Grab and Go Breakfast is April 22 at 10:30 a.m.
The event is organized by Emily Perez, residence life coordinator at Osprey Fountains.
Nature prescription trip: Float Away From Finals in Florida Springs
The Institute for Environmental Research and Education is hosting a nature prescription trip to explore Ichetucknee Springs State Park, one of Florida’s unique springs, as part of its educational program.
According to the UNF event calendar, Float Away From Finals in Florida Springs is a relaxing event about connecting with nature during the week before finals and enjoying the restorative health benefits that can come from experiencing the natural world.
Students of all majors are welcome to attend the Florida Field School trip until the capacity is reached. On the UNF Florida Field School website, students can apply for the UNF Florida Field School if they are interested in attending, or they can contact [email protected] for more information.
The cost of this trip is $20 and includes transportation provided via the Osprey Connector, entrance fees into the park, and more.
The nature prescription trip will be held on April 24 at 8:30 a.m. The event is organized by Ruby Cox, program coordinator for the IERE Institute of Environmental Research and Education.
Autism Awareness Art Show featuring Julian Hooks
Autism Acceptance Month is observed in April. An autism awareness art show will be held to display some of Julian Hooks’ latest pieces.
According to the university calendar, Hook will speak to the audience about his experience with autism and also speak about how art has shaped his identity and the voice he uses to express himself.
In an article reported by The Arc, April grants people a chance to move beyond “awareness” and focus on what people with autism and their families need in real life: respect, access, and the support necessary to live in a community with others with autism.
The Autism Awareness Art Show will be hosted by Sydney McNeill, Silverfield College Circle Coordinator, on April 24 at 1 p.m. in Tom and Betty Petway Hall, Room 1100A.
