The UNF women’s basketball team lost 69-47 on the road against Alabama on Dec 14.

UNF came into their Dec. 14 road game against Alabama with confidence after their last game saw them winning in epic fashion against Trinity Baptist, 97-30.

That momentum and confidence showed at the start of the game. UNF’s defense kept them ahead of the Crimson Tide for the majority of the first half. However, in the last minute of the half Alabama went on to score a flurry of points to take a 29-22 lead going into halftime

UNF junior guard Claire Ioannidis led both teams in scoring, going off for 21 points in the game. Only four Ospreys managed to put points on the board. Alabama guard Hannah Cook scored a team-high 17 points for the Crimson Tide.

The second half was a disaster for UNF. The rebuilding Osprey offense maintained their level of play, but their defense crumbled and Alabama managed to put away the Ospreys 69-47 despite strong shooting by Ioannidis and 12 rebounds by senior guard Kadesia Johnson.

The Ospreys play their next game Dec. 16 when they return to face Warner at UNF Arena.
