With all the momentum of the world on its side after two straight wins, North Florida (6-7-2 overall, 2-4 ASUN) needed every bit of it going on the road to face the first-place Stetson Hatters (8-4-2 overall, 5-0 ASUN.)

The Ospreys struck first with a goal at seven minutes by midfielder Tori Hamel. However Stetson soon came right back.

Stetson’s Sarah Collins answered at the twelve minute mark to tie the game at one goal apiece. Though the score may not seem like it, both teams shot very efficiently with 20 shots on goal between them (11 Stetson, 9 UNF) and UNF senior goalkeeper Victoria Ekeli had a game-high eight saves on the game.

The Ospreys managed to regain the lead going into the half with a timely goal at 28 minutes by forward Krista Colubiale. For much of the second half, it seemed that would be the game-winning goal until the 76th minute when Collins racked up her second goal of the game and eventually sent the contest into overtime.

Though North Florida had Stetson’s number for most of the night, the Hatters scored the game-winner only two minutes into overtime and escaped with the 3-2 victory. The loss now forces the Ospreys to win or tie next week to guarantee a spot in the ASUN tournament.

North Florida’s regular season finale will be at home against FGCU (10-4-1 overall, 4-0-1ASUN) on Oct 22.
