Volleyball loses in first round of A-Sun Championships

The No. 6 seed UNF women’s volleyball team’s season came to an end Thursday night, as the fell 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-18) to No. 3 East Tennessee State in the opening round of the 2010 Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball Championship in Fort Myers, Fla.

A-Sun Player of the Week and Second Team All-Conference member Paige Pridgeon, led the Ospreys as usual with her 15th double-double of the season that consisted of 11 kills and 10 digs.

Jessica Catelano and Anna Budinska each chipped in with seven kills while Britt Claessens dished out 35 assists. Nicole Baran had 12 digs to lead the Ospreys.

The Ospreys earned an A-Sun Championship berth last week after defeating the cross-town rival Jacksonville University Dolphins, 3-0, inside the UNF Arena.

This was UNF’s first A-Sun Championship showing since becoming a NCAA Division I program a season ago.
