The men’s basketball team (11-17 overall, 5-6 ASUN) gassed out against Lipscomb (17-9 overall, 7-4 ASUN) during the last minutes for a 82-75 loss on Feb.10.

The Ospreys started the game off strong with a nine point spurt. During the majority of the first half, North Florida controlled the scoreboard with their largest lead of the game, 25-13.

With less than five minutes less in the first half, Lipscomb started to make a come back and knotted the score at 39 to end the half.

At the start of the second half, North Florida created another spurt with a 10-4 run to retake the lead. However, it did not last long. Lipscomb responded with a run of their own to shrink the gap between the two teams.  The Bisons and Ospreys traded the lead back and forth throughout the half until the final stretch of the matchup.

In the final five minutes of the night,  Lipscomb sparked one last rally to take over the game and secure the win on their home court.

Turnovers were a big issue for the Ospreys as they racked up a total 18 compared to only five from the Bisons.

“Anytime you have 18 turnovers that lead to 20 points in a game like this battling for second place in the league, it makes it kind of hard to overcome,” Head Coach Matthew Driscoll said.

Lipscomb’s Rob Marberry led all scorers with 39 points.

Freshman Trip Day finished the night with 22 points, and led two other teammates in double figures. This is the first time, Day had a 20-point performance as he knocked five from behind the arc. His five three-pointers were more than the entire Bisons’ team made during the game.

The men’s basketball team will return home to face USC Upstate on Feb.15.
