The Highlanders scored early in the second inning with nine runs to bust the game wide open. When the Ospreys came to bat in the second, Blake Voyles scored Abraham Sequera on a fielder’s choice to eliminate the shutout, which made the score 9-1. Mac Wilson sent the ball sailing over the right-field wall for a three-run homer to chip away at the lead, 9-4 Highlanders. In the third inning, Dalton Board continued the team’s momentum as he reached on a fielder’s choice and two more runs crossed the plate after an NJIT error. Blake Voyles plated a run on a groundout to make the score 9-7 NJIT.

The Ospreys added a run in the sixth inning on an NJIT wild pitch. Chris Matthias connected on an RBI two-bagger in the seventh inning to tie the game 9-9. The Ospreys took the lead on a Chris Berry sac fly to left to make the score 10-9. Tanner Murphy added an insurance run on an RBI double, making it 11-9. Brad Depperman, the reigning ASUN Pitcher of the Week, came in to pitch in the seventh inning and was a lockdown, pitching the last three innings, striking out four to earn his fifth save of the season.

The Ospreys offense drew more walks (13) than recording hits (5). Dalton Board and Tanner Murphy both were patient at the plate and were given three free passes each. Mac Wilson’s three-run dinger was his first home run as an Osprey, which kick-started the biggest comeback of the season. Ethan Michaelis performed a solid job of relief after entering the game in the second. Michaelis threw for four and two thirds, punching out five, only allowing two runs as the Ospreys started its comeback.

The Ospreys head back home to prepare for their first game of the ASUN Championship Tournament on their home turf at Harmon Stadium. Their first game is on Wednesday with a to be determined opponent.
