Women’s Soccer shutout by UCF

On Sunday, the UNF Women’s Soccer team  lost 3-0 to the University of Central Florida in an exhibition.

UCF entered the match as the 16th best team in the nation.  Towards the end of the first period, Freshman forward Kirsten Scott opened up the scoring with a goal. Junior midfielder Zandy Soree added onto the lead with a goal on a penalty kick in the second period. Junior Defender Konya Plummer cemented the win with her second goal of the preseason.

On the Ospreys side of the pitch, Freshman forward/defender Hollyn Knight was the star on defense for the Ospreys. Knight finished the match with a total of six deflections and clear aways, including a couple where she had a one on one matchup with opposing strikers. Sophomore goalkeeper Rhiannon Conelley finished with four saves including a free kick shot right outside of the goalkeeper box. Junior forward Angelica Stege and Sophomore midfielder Andrea Sanchez each finished with a shot on goal each.

The Women’s Soccer team’s next game will be against College of Charleston on Friday, Aug. 17.
