College challenge: full face from the Bookstore

Jessica Volz, Reporter

Yes, it’s possible! Students can build a complete beauty arsenal at the UNF Bookstore without breaking the bank. The e.l.f. cosmetic kiosk located near the registers cater to more than just the eyes, lips and face—but the wallet too. How did we find out? Well, we bought a full face of makeup from the bookstore.

From primer to brushes, a $50 investment will get students one of each product to thoroughly build a full face.

Knock $10 off the $50 investment if you already own brushes and sponges. Who knew a full face application of makeup could get any cheaper than $50?

E.l.f. cosmetics is known for its slogan: e.l.f. “is for every eye, lip, and face” and “ is priced for all.” But what are students looking at price-wise for individual products? Here’s a preview:

Primers $5-10

Foundations $4-8

Concealer $3-5

Setting powder or spray $3-8

Cheek colors $4-8

Eyeshadow $3-8

Mascara $2-6

Eyeliner $2-4

Brow $2-5

Lips $3-6

Applicators/ brushes $2-12

E.l.f.’s instant lift brow pencil is hands down an affordable alternative to more expensive brow products, like the infamous DipBrow from Anastasia Beverly Hills. The e.l.f brow pencil is a slender dual-ended applicator with a spooly on one end, which helps tame brow hair. The opposite end twists-up and disperses the wax-like pencil tip. The product had all-day wear and didn’t smudge or smear in the Florida heat.

Is this too good to be true? No. The e.l.f. cosmetic line is cruelty-free, paraben-free and vegan.
