Mens Golf Dominates Field at Tournament

By Josh Brannock

The 12th ranked UNF men’s golf team outplayed its competition Nov. 7-8 at the Amelia National Intercollegiate tournament. The team came into the final day of play with a seven shot lead and ended the tournament 10 shots ahead of runner up Texas A&M.

UNF shot a 21-under-par 843 for the tournament. Crosstown rival Jacksonville University, on the other hand, finished in eighth with a 39-over-par 903.

The Ospreys swept the top three individual spots at the tournament. Junior Sean Dale’s nine-under-par 207 was enough for him to finish first place and continue his majestic season. Junior Kevin Phlean finished second as he shot a six-under-par 210 and senior Kevin Aylwin finished right behind Phlean, who finished third place with a five-under-par 211.

The event marks the end of the team’s fall season. The Ospreys look to continue the success they had in their last two events into the spring.
