Men’s Hockey continues to dominate

By Josh Brannock

The UNF men’s hockey team took the ice Nov. 18 and 19 against Kennesaw State in hopes to prove to the rest of the league its season hasn’t been a fluke. After beating FSU in Tallahassee Nov. 4 and 5, the team destroyed Kennesaw State 7-1 in both games.

Coach Hans King said that the games were the squad’s best and fastest of the season.

He said the team has been improving every game up to this point of the year.

UNF goalies John Dambrosio and Matt Wiesner, started a game each and held Kennesaw State to just one goal.

The win for the Ospreys was against a Kennesaw team that had half of its defense composed of players from its division two team. UNF is playing in division three, and the team they played was Kennesaw’s division three squad.

Even though the Ospreys are in the hunt for the top spot in their conference, they will not be playing in the playoffs this year.

Due to ACHA rules, the team is on a one-year probation because they were added to the division this year. Coach King said that the team is following every rule the ACHA has so it can play for the division three championship next year.

With a 13-2 record, the team has been making itself known around the collegiate hockey world and showing the ACHA it’s ready to play. With just four games left before winter break, the team looks to end its first two-thirds of the season on a high note.
