People have been concerned about kids’ “shrinking attention spans” for years, blaming their dwindling ability to focus on the Internet and other new technology. However, consuming media all at once then moving on is just as problematic for adults, who have the same access to technology and all its effects, proving that it's a culture-wide shift.

The recent Jack White incident at Oklahoma University was no an isolated incident of big companies attempting to control what student media publish and do not publish. Two years ago, UNF had a similar dilemma when Osprey Productions hosted a performance by musician Billy Joel. In sum, companies trying to regulate the content of student media violates the rights of the press (even if it is student-run press.)
